Being a bit of a night owl, I love CNP because I can connect with people at all hours. Sometimes I hit the jackpot and meet another night owl and we send our somewhat sleepy messages back and forth and it's all great fun.

How Thach Changed My Outlook (and my profile!)

OK, I'll admit it. Even after an hour of support on the call today from Thach and two professional coaches (Michelle and Deborah) I was still confused. I'll also fess up to going into the call thinking my profile was pretty cool. But by midway through the call I wasn't so sure anymore. Thach gave me your name because I am looking for a nursery to help provide (or donate) items to a Paul Newman Hole-in-the-Wall camp in Carnation, WA called Camp Korey (www.campkorey.org). He thought you might have some connections here in Seattle that I could contact. You can visit the website but in a nutshell, the camp is for seriously ill children and no one ever has to pay to attend. We have a large wish list of items and 10 flats of various flowers is one of the items. We have volunteers ready to plant them at the camp but no flowers. :-) If you have any suggestions as to who I might be able to get in contact with, that would be great. If not, that's OK too!

Green architecture might mean different things to different people. I use the term to include all aspects of architectural design and construction that enhance sustainable, healthy living. This might simply relate to choosing materials that do not offgas toxic chemicals, or it might relate to significant building designs that naturally capture and reuse all of the water and energy that is required for comfortable living within.
Here are a couple of brief examples of current/recent work : (1) a new construction, (9,600 sq.ft. in Woodinville), we are heating the pool with a heat pump, the electricity for the heat pump is produced by photovoltaic panels on the pool house. Additional electricity that is produced supplements the house and is sold back to the grid with net metering. Pool heat is off in the winter but electricity is still produced to be used in the main house and sold back to the grid. This system eliminates fossil fuel pool heaters; (2) In Edmonds we are working on a luxury home under renovation (11 acres on the water). It is a partial renovation and addition to a 19,000 sq. ft. estate home. Where we are using alternative insulation techniques and geothermal.
